I’m a big guy (255 lbs) and I like to hit medium sized (25 foot) jumps with my fatbike. I was concerned the Maxle Ultimate that came on it wasn’t made for that kind of use. Also I felt like the rear end had a weird flex sometimes.
I needed a beefier axle and this Thunder axle looked like what I needed. I was a little concerned with the weight, but honestly I can’t tell the difference between the Thunder and the Maxle Ultimate when I hold them in my hand. However I can tell that the Thunder axle is MUCH stronger and better suited for what I need. I’ve been riding it a month and a half and I never feel that weird flex from the rear. Plus I don’t worry about breaking axles when I’m sending it.

The thru-axle performs exactly like it should – flawlessly.
I’m more impressed with this companies service. I incorrectly ordered the wrong thread pitch (you know, measure once and then just keep cutting…). They easily and quickly refunded me and their communication was always spot on. I would highly recommend this company!

Living in New Zealand, riding a fat bike with a 197 spacing, and snapping a derailleur hanger whilst Covid 19 does its thing made it impossible to find anything local in our very small market. I stumbled upon the Thunder Bolt on axle after looking for hours on-line,and basically bought 2 out of frustration.
Well boys and girls, long story short, sometimes fairy tales do come true.
The axles are phenomenally well made, and I have to say, give a sense of pride in the after-market add-ons you can put on your bike
Aside from the product, freight was very reasonable if not slightly delayed,as everything seems to be lately.
The most impressive thing for me however was the speed with which The Robert Axle Project dealt with payment and then sending my parcel(all done the same day).
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC
